# Racing and standings

From wristband to points to season standings: this is how competition works in survivalrun.

Last updated: 19 september 2026, 20:40

## 1. The wristband

Every participant starts with a wristband from race control. You wear it for the entire race. If you do not complete an obstacle correctly, the jury takes your band. A missed obstacle counts as **3 hours time penalty (= 360 points)**. Race control tracks up to 5 missed obstacles; after that points become negative. Keeping your wristband is also the condition for qualification points.

## 2. Points per race

The winner (fastest without a missed obstacle) gets **1000 points**.

`points = 1000 − (seconds behind ÷ 30)`

Every half-minute slower = exactly 1 point less. Points per race category and age class, accurate to 2 decimal places (AR §8.4).

Example: winner 01:23:00 → 1000 pts. You 01:24:30 (90 sec later) → 997 pts.

## 3. Season standings

The standings are the sum of points over the best N of your runs.

`N = ⌊½ × offered + 1⌋, max. 7`

N varies per category and season. sr-stats always shows the current N from federation meta-data.

Example Season 2025/26: LSR 5 of 8 · MSR 7 of 15 · KSR 7 of 26 · JSR 7 of 20 · BSR 7 of 22.

## 4. Start ranking

Start order follows the start ranking: an average score over 365 days.

`P_X = (T_S / T_X) × 1000`

T_S = fastest time in the category. With ≥5 results, the lowest score is dropped. Men and women have separate rankings. Details: see AR appendix 4.

## 5. ONK, NSK and qualification runs

- **ONK** (Open Dutch Championship): counts as a regular standings race for JSR, KSR, MSR and LSR (not BSR).
- **NSK** (Dutch Student Championships): separate calendar event.
- **Qualification run**: any run where points for an adult race licence can be earned.

## 6. What sr-stats shows

sr-stats independently displays official sporting data from SBN. We do not recalculate the standings as an official position. See [Data and methodology](https://sr-stats.nl/en/resources/data-en-methodologie) for more.
